DEGENERATED DISCS AND KNEE PAIN REDUCE QUALITY OF LIFE;
CHIROPRACTIC IMPROVES IT
Degenerated discs and degenerated knees are not
such unlikely companions. They are examples
of musculoskeletal diseases and spinal malalignment that are contribute
to poorer quality of life
for older folks. Problems like low back pain, lumbar
spinal stenosis, knee pain because of osteoarthritis, decreased
lumbar lordosis (visible on xray), and increased
sagittal vertical alignment (as seen on xray) affect
a person’s quality of life. Lumbar spinal stenosis and knee osteoarthritis are
the most significant issues for patients having a lesser
quality of life. (1) Another study links the disc height of the L1/L2,
L2/L3, and L3/L4 to knee pain with L2/L3 being the most strongly related.
(2) The old “Dem Bones” song holds true! Everything is related!
A degenerated knee may be related to a degenerated disc. Minster Chiropractic Center understands
the connection and is prepared to help.

CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH: Extruded Discs May Regress!
Extruded discs - discs whose gelatinous core
leaks out – are apt to be a bit scarier
than disc bulges to their owners, but in a recent study
they regressed with conservative, non-surgical care! At about 17 months of
care, 75% of extrusions completely went away, 15%
partially regressed, and 10% did show any resolution.
90% did! Additionally, those patients whose discs resolved
also stated that they had significantly improved NRS pain scores,
symptoms and disability issues. (3) Minster Chiropractic Center helps extruded discs find relief! They do not
scare us!
Listen to this discussion on care of the extruded
disc with Cox® Technic on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr.
Michael Johnson as Dr.
Ted Siciliano shares this case of a disc extrusion in a weight lifter he positively
helped.
